Fun!

We Eloped During the Pandemic!

I am sure you all know by now that I am officially a married woman! Wohoo! After 20 + years, Adam and I finally tied the knot! And as I am sure that you ALSO all know, our wedding did not go as planned! LOL!

We originally decided to get married at Adam’s Grandma’s house. She has a massive backyard surrounded by these beautiful trees and plants. It’s a very special place for us (His parents even got married there as well). We planned a very small wedding ceremony of about 25 people. We budgeted everything under $3k (which I am quite proud of by the way) and were good to go, and then…. COVID hit!

Our wedding was originally scheduled for May 9th, 2020 and after months in quarantine with no real answer as to when we would be allowed to gather again, we decided to postpone our big day.

Cut to July when we got some unexpected news that Adam’s uncle was to undergo emergency triple bypass heart surgery…. we realized that life is super short and we didn’t want to wait any longer to be Mr. and Mrs. (Luckily after a very difficult surgery and recovery time, I am happy to share that Adam’s uncle pulled through and is doing amazing!)

So in August, Adam’s friend suggested we “get it done” and offered us his timeshare in Las Vegas. We had about 5 days notice but figured “why not?!” We got the blessings from our families, packed our bags and hit the road to Viva Las Vegas! After a VERY long commute stuck in traffic, we officially made it!

The next day we woke up and got ourselves ready and headed down to get our marriage license. Keep in mind that it was 110 degree heat and I was sweating up a storm in my wedding dress (that I got from Amazon, by the way, I swear they have everything!) Dripping in sweat and trying to walk gracefully in my heels, the people of Vegas were so welcoming and sweet, cheering us on as we walked down the street!

We got to Love Story Wedding Chapel (that I booked on our drive into town), and were greeted by the nicest staff! They made our day feel so special (as it was just the two of us). Our vows were absolutely beautiful and even though the Officiant did not know us personally, it was literally as if she did. She tailored the ceremony perfectly to our relationship. It was truly magical! After lots of tears (Adam cried like a baby!) and kisses, it was photoshoot time.

The chapel was set up so cute with so many props and fun staged photo areas! We took full advantage! They even gifted us with a mini wedding cake. Such a sweet gesture! (And yes, we did save half of it for our one year!)

The rest of our wedding trip was full of lots of fun, laughter, gambling, celebrating, and drinks! We had the best time at the MGM strand. The folks at House of Blues treated us like royalty. We had the best time! (Even though it is still in COVID times and masks are required everywhere), I think the City of Las Vegas is doing an excellent job of keeping everyone as safe and comfortable as possible while still remaining true to the overall “Vegas” experience.

Our wedding didn’t go exactly as we planned it to, but it was perfect for us. We decided we will be renewing our vows for our one year anniversary and will have my best friend marry us as originally planned. So it’s a win/win for all.

Getting married during a Pandemic is not ideal but I am so glad that we ended up just going for it and getting married when and in the way we did because our family was so supportive and happy for us. I am sad to say that just 3 weeks after we got married, Adam’s mom passed away unexpectedly. I am grateful that she got to hear our wedding story, talk to us on the phone, and see all of the photos. She was ecstatic to officially become my mother in law and I am forever grateful that she got to experience that with us! To all my Covid 19 fiancée’s and brides out there, stay strong and remember life is so precious. Do what is right for you! Celebrate your love! Your special day will be perfect when it arrives!

XOXO
